At one time, Florence Lowe Barnes lived in the rectory of St. James Church, posing as the dutiful wife of the right Rev. Rankin Barnes.  SealSouthPasadenaBut she didn't remain dutiful for long, and eventually dive bombed St. James Church with her biplane, on a Sunday, while her husband was giving a sermon! Now for the first time in ages, Pancho returns to the city of South Pasadena.  On Sept. 2, 2010, producer and writer Nicholas Spark and director Amanda Pope will personally present The Legend of Pancho Barnes and the Happy Bottom Riding Club at 8:00 p.m. in the South Pasadena Main Library Community Room.

The event is presented by the South Pasadena Public Library and the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library.  The version of the film that will be shown is the “Film Festival Edition” that is 7 minutes longer than the one shown on public television. Some of the language may not be appropriate for young children. The Community Room is located at 1115 El Centro Street. No tickets or reservations are necessary. Refreshments will be provided. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
