In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Dominguez Hills Air Meet, the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum is putting together a special series of lectures. Sept. 11th, 2010 from 11-3 p.m., the topic will be our favorite -- Pancho Barnes!
Join us at Cal State University, Dominguez Hills to hear Barbara Schultz, who wrote the wonderful biography Pancho, talk about Southern California's most amazing aviatrix. A small exhibit of Pancho Barnes artifacts will accompany her talk. This is the first time we've presented with Barbara, and it should be a really memorable day full of perspective and fun!
11am – Talk by Barabara Schultz
1pm – Documentary screening and Q&A
There will be light refreshments in between. This event will be held at Cal State University, Dominguez Hills in the 1910 Cafe located in the Loker Student Union. See http://dominguezrancho.org/category/events/ for more information.

The Legend of Pancho Barnes will be shown at the Santa Monica Public Library on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium. The library is located at 601 Santa Monica Blvd. Admission is free but first come, first served and seating is limited. Visit this link for more information.
Having this screening in Santa Monica, in August, is our way of paying tribute to the brave women who flew in the first "Powder Puff Derby" Air Race, which took place in August of 1929. Twenty women competed in the race, including Pancho, which ran from Santa Monica's Clover Field to the National Air Race venue at Cleveland. The race was won by Louise Thaden. Pancho did not finish, for reasons best explained in our documentary.
